Power of attorney
A Lasting Power of Attorney is a document which can be prepared by you to cover the situation in the future where you may lose, or begin to lose, your mental capacity so that you become incapable of dealing with your own financial affairs or health and welfare issues. A Lasting Power of Attorney gives you the opportunity to select, whilst you are still able to do so, those people that you would wish to take care of your affairs for you in those circumstances.
There are two types of Lasting Powers of Attorney:-

Wills and probate

Estate administration
When someone dies there are a number of steps that need to be undertaken to deal with the administration of their estate. Burton & Co can help with all aspects of estate administration from simply applying for a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration to administering the whole of the estate. This may include obtaining valuations of the assets, preparing Inheritance Tax accounts, cashing in or transferring the assets in the estate, paying debts and distributing the estate.
